About Dalby & District

Dalby is the largest regional centre in the resources boom area of the Surat Basin. Situated along the scenic Myall Creek just one-hour's drive from Toowoomba, 2.5 hours from Brisbane and 3 hours from the Gold and Sunshine Coasts, Dalby provides easy access to Queensland's capital city as well as major urban & tourist areas. Based at the crossroads of the Warrego, Moonie, Condamine and Bunya highways, the town is also a hub for the national highway network linking Australia’s capital cities, making the town accessible to the vast nation-wide transport system.

With a population of approximately 11,000 Dalby is largely known as an agricultural town but is quickly becoming a major player in the energy industry with vast resources of coal, gas & oil in the area. The resources boom and associated infrastructure developments are bringing more people to Dalby to work, live, and take advantage of the great lifestyle the community offers. It has been estimated that Dalby's population will rise by 50% by 2012 (Peter McGrath, Chairman, REIQ 23/01/2007).
